King David is known for his bravery and love for God when he was young. As a shepherd boy he was anointed to King of Israel by the prophet Samuel. Before he he ascended the throne he had to go a difficult course in relation to his later father-in-law, the reigning king Saul. After he had become king, David made several mistakes and had to deal with revolts by his own sons.
