Napa Valley well driller Lloyd Huckfeldt. We staged this photo for an advertising campaign for Huckfeldt Well Drillers in 1999. The image is supposed to represent striking water during a drilling job. In reality, the picture was staged. What's taking place is a blast of air through the drill bit to flush water from the newly drilled well. In this case the drillers found over 50 gallons per minute (gpm) on a hillside in Napa around 180 below the surface. This is one of my favorite and most famous photos and the campaign generated quite a bit of new business for Lloyd and his sons.
