September 1, 2012 - It's again time for harvesting the elder berries. The berries are steamed and the juice mixed with honey kept in bottles. I still have bottles from last year when the harvest was very good. Of course it's also possible to make elderberry wine. Black elderberry has been used medicinally for hundreds of years. Some preliminary studies demonstrate that elderberry may have a measurable effect in treating the flu, alleviating allergies, and boosting overall respiratory health.[1]
