Description
English: This character is called Shisa in Okinawa. It is a dog-type creature than can be seen everywhere on the island. It is used as a type of gargoyle to ward off evil spirits. There is a male and a female version. One wards off evil, and the other welcome in good. This picture was taken in Okinawa at a small festival. The Shisa danced together to the beat of drums. It was very cool to watch.
